Yes, it's a cute concept & the 1st batch actually turned out. Followed the directions to a tee, yet the 2nd batch came out a gooey mess. They were done on the outsides, & completely raw on the inside on 5 out of the 8 brownies. The other 3 were done perfectly despite the exact same amount of batter being placed in each slot. I used a scoop to make sure of that.
Things to be aware of before purchasing: 1. Requires you to have something beneath it other than your counter top, as it may marr or darken the counter top if not. 2. Requires cleaning & spraying the top, bottom plate, and the insert each time. No problem on the top & bottom plate, but the insert is a pain. 3. If you have extra brownie batter left over for any less than a full batch, it says NOT to make them, so that wastes the remaining brownie batter. After trying this device, I could just as easily have turned on the oven & baked a full batch in a pan faster. Frosted them when cool & cut them. Less work & you get at least 4 crusty edged brownies.
PROS: No oven required, or heating up the house. Brownies are pre-cut (provided they turn out). Cute factor.
CONS: Time consuming. More time required for clean-up in between & after. Spraying or coating with Crisco or your preferred brand each time. If baked in a pan, requires spraying or coating ONCE only. No crispy edges like I thought there would be, I happen to like the corners best. Waste of good brownie batter (especially homemade) if you have any less than a full batch to put in the Bella Cucina Brownie maker. Must be careful, even if they've cooked for 8 minutes & been allowed to sit for 1 additional minute. Once you've lifted the insert IF the insides aren't done, too late no matter how careful you were; to re-insert & continue baking. Already made a mess & have now wasted more of them. Also the device became so hot, the little picture of the brownies on a plastic piece that's located on the top of this device actually curled up from the heat and appears that's permanent, will no longer lay flat.
Bottom line - I would leave this one on the shelf. I really wanted to like/love it. Thought it was so cute, & it IS cute, that's what sold me along with not having to turn on the oven. I regret purchasing this & would have been far wiser to employ logic & realized it's actually faster/easier to bake them in the oven & simply cut... Live & learn I guess.
