Before first use I washed and "pre-cooked" the mold (with no food in it) expecting it to exude some smoke from the manufacturing process. After about 10 min at 350F it started to smoke a lot more than I expected and continued to smoke (plastic smell) for at least 20 minutes afterwards. It eventually stopped smoking but I strongly suggest this is done before first use. I bought this assuming this silicone is a food grade since as this is distributed by a U.S. company but there was no indication in the package.
